What is Here&There?
Here&There is an interactive platform at the service of transnational communities.
It empowers migrant organisations to contribute to the knowledge on challenges
faced by their communities, be they integration or cultural dialogue,
human rights issues, conflict resolution, or socio-economic development.
Here&There also wants to provide a platform for NGOs, researchers and government
organisations to engage more directly with transnational community organisations
and provide channels for interaction and mutual learning.
What you can do on Here&There
Here&There allows you to create an individual profile, with which you can:
- present yourself and network with organisations on topics that you are involved in
- access the platform's messaging system
- receive news feeds from other people and groups on Here&There
In addition, you can also create a group profile on Here&There. A group profile could present your NGO, your student association, your think tank... A group profile has many useful features to share information about your activities:
- post news about your organisation and inform all people on Here&There about the conference you are organising, the report that your organistion just published, the meeting which will take place...
- manage the members of your group and network with people from other organistions on Here&There
- share media about your organistion: Here&There offers photo galleries, a document repository, an event calendar...
Data and security policy
Data security and privacy issues are a major concern for transnational communities. These concerns have been taken into account during the conception of Here&There. In contrast to other commercial on-line platforms, Here&There is committed to rigorous and complete data protection and we will under no circumstances hand data on to third parties. The security architecture of the platform has been designed according to state-of-the-art technology and is perdiodically revised.
To allow you to control how much information you want to share, you can create public, semi-public and totally hidden profiles. You can choose who you want to find, if you want to be found, which documents you wish to share and which you do not.
Our team
The team behind Here&There brings together European NGOs and universities that work with transnational communities. The platform is funded by the European Commission under the Seventh Framework Programme for research and development via the research projects INFOCON and DIASPEACE (place links to their profile).
